What is your job & how long have you worked at Abbracci Med Spa?

I consider myself an aesthetic nurse specialist. I have worked at Abbracci Med Spa since April 2017, but I have been in the field for over 13 years.

What is your favorite thing about your job?

I love helping people look their best. This, in turn, makes them feel better in many ways – whether it is a boost of self-confidence, smiling a bit more, or an extra swag in their step, lol.

Can you explain a little about what you do differently, or what sets you apart?

What sets me apart is the ability to connect with folks, make them feel comfortable and confident that they are in good hands. I’ve been told I have a soft touch when injecting. I enjoy helping clients by educating them and delivering natural results, rather than delivering a sales pitch. Clients often want to look refreshed. Sometimes they simply seek a healthier, more vibrant and younger version of themselves. I love working with a canvas and creating a beautiful work of art. It’s definitely a blend of medicine and art that touches people’s lives in a positive way.

What is your favorite treatment at Abbracci Med Spa & why?

One of my favorite treatments is the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light laser treatment). It is a much more customizable treatment that clears dyspigmentation (reds and browns) AND stimulates collagen for skin rejuvenation. It not only helps the skin aesthetically, but it helps medically because of its ability to prevent certain types of skin cancer. I have treated face, neck and decollete, hands, arms, legs, abdomen and backs with amazing new clarity to the skin.

What are your top three skin care recommendations?

My top three skin care recommendations would be to include home maintenance therapy of a pharmaceutical or medical-grade retinoid. As we age, the cellular turnover slows down. Retin-A derivatives help accelerate cellular turnover that aid the skins ability to produce a youthful appearance. Some schools of thought include daily therapy of a retinoid. However, an every other day, or twice weekly, regime also proves beneficial. The second recommendation is the application of daily sunscreen protection. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are physical sunblocks that provide complete coverage of UVA and UVB rays. My third recommendation would be to include annual IPLs (with possible alternatives that include chemical peels). These medical treatments thicken the dermis, enhance collagen stimulation, clears dyspigmentation, and aid in prevention against certain skin cancers.

What is the one thing you wish your clients knew about taking care of their skin?

I wish clients knew that taking care of their skin also requires healthy eating habits, drinking plenty of water, sleeping enough hours every night, and reduction of stress. Healthy skin care transpires from both care on the outside and from within. Our skin is our first defender from the elements. It is our largest body organ and deserves our utmost care.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working/what are some of your hobbies?

I enjoy spending time with my family, chiefly my daughter. She is 10 years old, and my son, who is 23 and leaving for the University of Hawaii for a PhD in Mathematics. They both have amazing souls. I feel so blessed to have these wonderful people in my life. Some of my hobbies include exercise, especially wake boarding over the summer with friends at Lake Pyramid, Castaic or Lake Mead. I enjoy learning and frequently read material on health, medicine or history. I also enjoy dabbling in real estate, and I love comedy.

If you weren’t an aesthetician (nurse, doctor), what would you do?

If I were not a Nurse Practitioner, I would have been either a chiropractor, a mathematics professor with a minor in history, traveling to ancient places throughout the world, or a theologian. I am a strong woman of faith and sense a certain calling to pursue some aspect of missionary work.

What is your favorite meal?

One of my favorite meals is salmon smothered in lemon with asparagus on the side. Mediterranean food with humus is another favorite. I also love chocolate!

Cocktail of choice?

Mai Tai

Where would your dream destination/vacation be?

My dream destination would include any of the following places: any tropical place such as Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji, the Caribbean, or the Mediterranean countries such as Croatia, Greece, Italy or Israel. Ok, I’m packing my bags now!
