Hello, 2020 & Happy New Year! We are so excited for January, and this new decade and are so happy to be able to share it with you. Stay tuned for some new treatments & procedures that we are adding to the service menu this quarter, but for now, we have our semi-annual Laser Hair Removal Special and January is the BEST time for it!

Why is winter the best time for Laser Hair Removal?

Granted, we have sunny skies most of the year, but cooler weather means that you’re wearing more layers to protect your skin from tanning and sun exposure.

So that means that now is the time for LHR for the legs, arms, bikini area and face. And for men, this is a great time for LHR for the chest area since you’re less likely to be outdoors sharing that toned physique.

Getting started now with Laser Hair Removal also means that come springtime, you’ll be ready and won’t have to deal with razor burn, ingrown hairs and the repeated pain of waxing.

So how does it work?

Here at Abbracci Med Spa, we use the high-speed LightSheer Duet system by Lumenis, which is a laser that produces a beam of highly concentrated light. The laser pulses for a fraction of a second, which allows the hair to absorb the light and heat up. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle, thereby damaging the hair shaft and bulb and stunts its’ ability to grow.

We have two separate handpieces that we use for LHR; a LightSheer High-Speed handpiece that uses vacuum-assisted technology that allows for comfortable treatment of larges areas, such as the back, chest, and legs. And the LightSheer ET handpiece is used for smaller areas such as the face, bikini area, and underarms.

How many treatments are necessary?

Because our hair grows in different phases, and is not at the same growth stage at the same time, if you’re just getting started with Laser Hair Removal, you will likely need multiple treatments for it to be effective.

Additionally, since the laser targets melanin, the pigment that gives our skin & hair color, people with darker hair have more success with this treatment than people with lighter hair. It’s also important to note that, as with all treatments & procedures, results vary from patient to patient, so some people may require more treatments than others for full hair removal of an area. And while Laser Hair Removal will permanently reduce body hair, it may not permanently remove all body hair and periodic follow-up treatments may be necessary a couple of times year. Luckily, we typically offer this special twice a year!

This month, we’ve put together laser hair removal specials in packages of 3 treatment sessions. They must be purchased in these packages. Why 3 treatment sessions? Because, if you are just getting started, it will take at least 3 monthly sessions to remove the hair from the follicle. After that, you may need periodic touch-ups to keep the area hair-free. Once the package is purchased, you have 1 year to use all three treatments, so it works well if you’re just starting, or to touch up during the year!
